"Momma, Let Me Grow Up!"

Wyatt has officially informed me he will not be a baby forever, no matter how much I wish he would! Today as we were swimming in the pool he was all on his own with his swimmies. All over the pool he went. No help.

He caught me looking a bit sad and said "What's wrong Momma?"

Grami told him "Momma is sad her boy is growing up."

He then said "Momma, Let me grow up!" And I smiled and said "okay". Then I got a kiss.

Every day he amazes me by what he knows. We have long conversations about everything. We are definitely in the "Why" phase. I'm pretty sure the "Why" phase would test even the most stoic nun. I try my hardest to answer each little question but sometimes when he asks why and he knows the answer I just smile and say "Because!"

Another cute story I don't want to forget:

A couple of weeks ago we drove to town to drop our friends dog off at their house. We had big plans to go to the zoo. On the way I realized I had forgotten my zoo membership so I told Wyatt I didn't have my tickets and we'd have to come back another day. He was sad but he was understanding. The next day I found my zoo pass in the pocket of a pair of jeans about to go into the wash and I yelled out "Found it!" Wyatt of course came running and said "Yay!! Now we can go to the zoo!! " I told him that we couldn't because we had spent our zoo food money the day before and didn't have enough to go. So he got real quiet and looked at the floor thinking. Then he looked up at me with those big blue eyes and said mater-of-factly, "I've got money, Momma." Trying not to laugh I said, "Oh yeah? How much?" And without missing a beat he said "Fifty dollars!" and handed me a dime.

One more story:

Wyatt and I were driving with Grami in our car and I mentioned he needed a hair cut. He of course starts in saying he doesn't and then gets quiet. Grami and I go about our conversation and he doesn't say anything for a little while. Then after it had been a few minutes he says, "Momma, I brushed my hair now so it doesn't need to get cut. It won't grow anymore." And looking back in the rear view mirror I saw him running his hand over his head flattening his hair to his head "brushing" it. Problem solved!

I've been taking a lot of pictures lately so I thought I'd share a few here.
