San Antonio!!!!!

We had a blast on our summer vacation!! I thought I'd do another little trip report of our adventure for prosperities sake!! So here goes!

We took off to Grami's house early on Wednesday the 13th of June. Our plane was set to leave at 3:50. Wyatt was excited about going on a "pwane". Grami had super shuttle pick us up at her and Papaw's exciting!!!! trip to the airport, we got on our way!

Wyatt and Daddy fell asleep almost as soon as we were in the air. (Papaw too). Something about flying must make boys sleepy.

When we arrived in San Antonio we set out for our reserved hotel but after a quick glance at it, Papaw said "No Way" and Grami called the Hyatt Regency Hill Country Resort and booked us two rooms!! All I can say about this place is WOW!

After a lovely meal in the hotel restaurant we got a good nights sleep. The next morning we all got sunscreened up, ate another good meal at the hotel restaurant and then headed to Sea World!!

We actually arrived a bit early so we couldn't go into the main part of park. We decided to check out the Clydesdales and then head to the dolphins! Luckily the dolphin feeding time was 9:30 and we got to feed the dolphins!!!! Wyatt thought that was great!

Then we headed towards Shamu stadium with a brief stop for Momma and Daddy to ride the near ride "Journey to Atlantis".

The best part of Sea World is definately the Shamu Believe show. Wyatt just loved it!! Check out his (and Grami and Daddy's) face the first time he saw a whale!! Gives you cold chills to watch!

We sat in the splash zone and boy did we get splashed! Wyatt just laughed and laughed after the whale got us! It was cold and salty but it sure felt nice!

Next we headed over to a place for lunch. It was typical park food, nothing to write home about. Since it was nap time we decided to head to the penguin exhibit because our friends said it was a great place to get cool and nap! Boy were they right! Wyatt looked at the penguins with Grami and Papaw while Mommy and Daddy got to ride the Steel Eel. It was a fun roller coaster but I've decided roller coasters are for young people! My muscles were so sore from being tense during this ride!

And when we got back to the penguins this is what we found!! One sleepy boy!! He was crashed out on Grami's lap!!

I even got some loving when he finally woke up! Gotta get cuddles whenever and wherever you can!

It was so hot that we decided there was just nothing else we really wanted to do at Sea World so we headed back to our hotel to float in the lazy river and play in the kiddie pool. And guess what!! They had an adult pool with waitresses that would come to you while you sat in the water! Heaven!

Wyatt watched a movie with Daddy up in the room while Grami and Mom hung out in the pool. Dinner time came and we went upstairs to get the boys.

After dinner we went on a horse drawn carriage ride across the golf course! It was a beautiful evening and we really enjoyed it!

Next morning, another breakfast. Wyatt really enjoyed the fruit. In fact I think that is basically all he ate the entire week.

Back to Sea World! This time we left Papaw at the resort so he could soak in the sun. We hung out with the dolphins again.

It was so crowded on Friday that we decided to just check out the Shamu show and the Viva show then go back to the hotel to swim. Dad and Wyatt got put up on the big screen at the Shamu stadium because of Dad being a veteran. We are proud of him too!

My boy looks so small in Daddy's arms. He enjoyed the show again although this time we didn't get wet.

Back at the hotel the boy was ready to crash so he spent some time with Grami while Mom and Dad hung out in the adult pool!

Later that evening Happy Feet was being shown out on the lawn! Grami and Momma look like they are ready for a rock concert!

The boys are really cute watching the big screen! Wyatt thought the grass was cool and enjoyed picking blades of it and throwing them onto the blanket we were sitting on.

The next day we played around the resort. We had originally planned on going into Downtown to see the Alamo but see as how the Spurs had just won the NBA championship we decided to stay away from that crazy place!

Dad and Wyatt took the time to catch up on a little coloring!

Wyatt made friends out in the kiddie pool. He got so confident in this thing that he didn't want anyone hanging onto him. It was really nice because he felt like a big boy 'swimming' all by himself!

A little lunch by the pool followed by a snow cone is my idea of perfect!

Mommy had to get a shot of Wyatt with his loot. You can certainly tell where we visited!!

I took a ton of resort photos but I decided not to bore you with all of them. But here is a shot of one of my favorite features! The lazy river!! At night it is just like floating in the bayou on Pirates of the Caribean at Disneyland

All good things must come to an end and Sunday came way too fast! We said adieu to our perfect vacation spot and had to head home! But we'll be back!!

Mother's Day

Today is my 2nd Mother's Day! I think that this might be my favorite made-up holiday! Even the man at McDonalds wished me a happy Mother's Day. I'm not sure how he knew I was a Mom since Wyatt wasn't with me and I wasn't entirely sure he could see my car seat but somehow he knew. Maybe I have some tell tale sign on me I'm not aware of.

My boy spent most of the day with Grami so that Greg and I could mow so I was soooooooooo happy when he came home. He has been really a Momma's boy lately. Although when he climbed out of Grami's car he was happy to see me for a second but then he wanted me to go find Daddy and since then he only acknowledged me once or twice. That boy sure love's his Daddy.

It's been an entire week now since his last bottle so I guess we will officially call him weaned. It sure went easier than I thought it would. I was worried that he wouldn't want to cuddle at all now that he doesn't have a "Ba-Ba" but I have to say the exact opposite has occurred. It seems that cuddling is a good substitute for the bottle and Mommy is more than happy to oblige! Although Dad has been home all week and he is getting half of my cuddles so I must say I'm going to be a little happy to see him back at work. I know Wyatt is going to miss him though. (We both will I'm sure.) One more day left of Greg's forced relaxation. I think he is doing much better and I know he will be so glad to get back to work!

Well it is getting late so I'm going to go finish picking up the house and head to bed. Happy Mother's Day to all the Moms out there! Especially mine!! She literally taught me everything I know!

An Eventful Week

Time is once again flying and as usual, it's been a while since I've updated my blog. Wyatt is 21 months old and has just had a language explosion. He knows so many words I can't keep up with him. The only word he still won't say is "Grami" and it's driving her crazy. In fact I think she is thinking of changing her name to "Mo-Mo" simply because Wyatt can actually say that. I'm sure if she just holds out a little longer my little man will get it right.
This week has been a little different here on the Spivey home front because Wyatt's Daddy has been home all week.

Last Wednesday, May 2nd, Wyatt had tubes put in his ears. It was a heart breaking experience but Wyatt didn't seem phased by it at all. He played just as hard 2 hours after the surgery as he always does and there is certainly a change in his sleeping pattern. He has been sleeping much more soundly and seems like he feels much better over all. It was a scary thing but I'm glad we did it.

Then later that evening,Greg had an accident. He stood up to flip the television from video to tv and somehow tripped on a toy (at least that is what we think happened) fell and hit his back and head on the coffee table. Wyatt was standing right next to him but thankfully he wasn't in the way of the fall. Greg knocked himself out and scared me to death. He started having convulsions and foaming at the mouth so I grabbed Wyatt and ran for the phone. I've never called 911 in my life and I was hoping to be able to make it through life without needing to. I have never been so happy to see anyone in my whole life as I was to see our local volunteer firefighters arrive on the scene. I was terrified and crying uncontrollably and poor Wyatt just kept saying "Daddy!" "Daddy" and staring at me trying to figure out what was wrong.

I had to put Wyatt in his crib so that I could answer questions for the firefighters and because I didn't want him seeing his Dad on the floor unconscious. Somehow I managed to call Grami who said she was on the way but to call my Dad. I'm not sure why I didn't call them first since they live the closest. Another thing to be thankful for! Dad and Marie arrived at my house about the time Greg regained consciousness. Marie took Wyatt for me since I couldn't quit crying and Dad went into the living room with the paramedics. They decided to put Greg on a backboard to immobilize his neck and spine just in case and managed to get him to the ambulance. I road to Dad's house and left Wyatt with Marie and Aunt Emma. My Dad took me up to our hospital in town and thankfully we were only there for a few hours! Greg was catscanned and examined and released. He was sore all over and very thankful to still be kicking!

My Mom picked Wyatt up from Marie's house and had taken him back to our house to go to bed. She said that when she was walking up the steps to our house Wyatt was calling "Momma!" looking for me. He must have been worried about us. Then when he got inside the coffee table was still there and was in pieces and he walked right over to it and pointed at it saying "Da Da" and tried to tell Grami what had happened. Poor little guy!

So that was our big excitement for the week. Greg is still home from work because he tried to go back on Monday and was dizzy and felt faint. The doctors said he has Post concussion syndrome and that he needs to take a little more time off. Wyatt is not going to know what to do with himself when Daddy goes back to work! He has really enjoyed having his Dad around. Although I can tell he is wondering about it.

On top of all of this the most momentous occasion in his life has occurred! No more bottles!!!!! Mommy finally made the plunge and decided to wean. Evidently it was Mommy who didn't want to let go because Wyatt has been mostly fine with it. We started on Monday and he has only asked for a bottle once or twice after the first day of crying. He is now going to sleep pretty fast without one for naps and bedtime! Hopefully this means the hard part is over. I must say it still makes me sad! I guess I felt like my boy couldn't be a baby any more after he gave up his bottle. But really he hasn't been a baby in a long time. He's getting to be such a big boy.

To reward him for doing so well with giving up the bottle we bought him a betta fish for his room. He loves his new fish! I think we've gone into his room at least 10 times today to say hello to "King".

I guess that is most of our adventures of the week. Hopefully we won't have any more adventures like these ever again!

A Day with Dad!

We have been planning on taking Wyatt's pictures in the Blue Bonnets since Spring started and yesterday we actually did it!! That's pretty good for me since I usually procrastinate until I can't do it anymore.

I decided it would be easier if we took Greg with us so Wyatt and I went and picked up lunch for Dad and for us and drove to Dad's pit! We ate lunch under the pecan tree near the big dirt hole. It was a lovely lovely day! The weather was great and the sky was sooo blue!! No clouds anywhere.

After lunch Pa-Pa came by and said hello to Wyatt then we set off for some blue bonnets we saw on the road. Wyatt was really excited to get to sit in them for some reason. He didn't know what to do with his hands but he eventually started to like it! We took some pretty good pictures. (and may try again since the sun was in his eyes.)

After that we took Dad back to work and we got to see Dad driving his big Tractor. Wyatt was really impressed. I can't imagine a better job for a little boy's Dad to have!! Wyatt helped drive the tractor for a few minutes and played in the dirt. He honked the horn over and over and over and thought that was really cool! Wyatt was sad to have to leave but it was nap time and Dad had to get back to real work!! But I thought I'd post some pictures for everyone to see!

Spring, Beautiful Spring!

I have decided that March is my favorite month of the year! It used to be a tie between October and March but now that March is here I'm thinking it wins. The trees are greening up, baby animals are being born and it is finally warm enough outside to actually do something outdoors!!

Our numbers here at the Spivey household have shot up a bit in the last month. We recently acquired two new family members Hercules and Clyde. Wyatt's pygmy goats. They are pretty cute but not all together that friendly. Wyatt thinks they are really cool so that is something.

On top of the addition of Clyde and Herc we have recently been blessed to get Katie back. She had gone to live with my cousins in Rockwall and they decided she wasn't the dog for them. It has been nice having her back but I'm beginning to think 3 dogs is more than I ever want to handle again! At least they all get along! Piper's house training is coming along and she hasn't gone in the house but one time in a week. But she is never lose in the house either. . . At least she isn't alone out in the kennel. She has 2 buddies to keep her busy.


Now my first baby has been doing some major growing up as well! Mr. Wyatt has discovered how much fun it is to feed the horses grass and can spend literally hours picking up hay and grass (and dirt and rocks and sticks) and putting it into the horse's feed buckets. I have to be extra careful and check each bucket before I feed in the evenings or the horses might be forced to eat around a big rock. He has also started actually saying things like Bye and Yes when we ask him questions. It's fun to hold a conversation with my little man. Our first conversation in the mornings go something like this!

"Good Morning Sunshine"

"Did you sleep good last night?"
"Yeah"
"Are you hungry?"
"Yeah! Cook!"
"You want Mommy to Cook?"
"Yeah!"
"What do you want Mommy to cook?"
"Bread Bread!"
"Give me a kiss then!"

It's so sweet!! I love this stage! I swear each and every stage we have hit has been more and more fun for me. I just wish it went slower. Wyatt now can watch an entire movie (which he calls "Book") as long as it has puppies in it or cars. So basically we watch "Cars" and "101 Dalmatians" once every other day or so. At least they are cute movies!

Wyatt started taking a class at The Little Gym near Grami and Papaw's house on Saturday mornings. It is a beginner class for 19 mos - 2 1/2 years. We are picking it up in the middle because he wasn't old enough earlier so he only has 10 weeks left. He really seemed to enjoy it! It's good for him to interact with little kids. Other than Colin he rarely sees anyone else his age!!

It won't be long and we will be back spending every weekend at Grami and Papaw's house in the swimming pool!! But I think I'll enjoy the spring flowers until then!

Belated Disneyland Trip Report

I just realized I somehow missed telling everyone how our trip to Disneyland went!! It's been 2 months coming but today I decided it might be fun to revisit our trip to the "Happiest Place on Earth".

After a crazy November of Nanowrimo, I was glad to finally get a chance to start packing for our trip when November drew to a close! For two days straight I packed and gathered and plotted and planned until finally on December 1st we packed it all in the Tahoe and headed to Grami and Papaw's house to spend the night. On December 2nd Grami drove us to the airport and we somehow made it on the plane with a 15 month old!! For only adding one person to our entourage we sure ended up with a lot more luggage and carry on!

Wyatt loved the airport and the airplane! He chilled in his carseat and looked out the window while we were flying and was a very good boy!! We only took out the DVD player for a few minutes and the rest of the time he stayed entertained by talking to his Dad.



When we arrived in Anaheim we grabbed a Taxi and loaded up and headed to our hotel!! We arrived a day before the Peterson's and had to check in to the hotel for both of us. Unfortunately we arrived about 4 hours before our rooms would be ready. What to do, What to do!! I know! Let's head to Disneyland for lunch!!!!!!

Now not many people know of my complete obsession with Disneyland. So let me tell you who don't I spend most of my free time in life day dreaming of Disneyland. I visit Disneyland websites daily on the internet including forums of people who are equally obsessed. So to take Wyatt to Disneyland for the first time was something I'd been dreaming about since I found out we were having him!! And let me tell you, the dream wasn't as great as reality!! Wyatt loved the park!!






As we walked down Main Street for the first time as parents there was a parade starting so we ducked into a restaurant (Coke Corner) and had a Sourdough Chili Bowl and watched the Christmas floats roll past!! Wyatt was mesmerized! He sat on top of Dad's shoulders just taking it all in!



After the parade we still had a few hours before our rooms were ready so I decided the best first ride for my little man was Small World!! And since it is Christmas it was all decked out for the season! Wyatt sat in awe on his Daddy's lap just looking at all the dolls inside and when it was over he didn't want to get off.



The next ride we decided to go on was Pinnochio in Fantasyland. It's a cute short Dark ride and it turned out to be one of Wyatt's favorites of the trip. At the end he screamed and cried because he didn't want to get off and the nice lady that was working said, "Want to go again?" So around we went again!







After riding the carousel a half a dozen times we headed back to our hotel and crashed!! Wyatt went to sleep for the night at 5:00 (which really was 7:00 our time and considering he didn't have a nap was to be expected).

Sunday the 3rd we woke up and headed to Denney's for breakfast then back to park around opening (10:00). The Peterson's were set to arrive around noon so we didn't have much time in the park before they got there! Once they arrived we headed back to the hotel and gave them their keys, greeted them, then headed back to the park to wait on them to take showers and walk over. That day was crazy in the park because of the Candlelight Ceremony being held that evening. It was next to impossible to ride many things because of the crowds so we mainly stuck with the train and Fantasyland.





The rest of the week is an obvious blur of happiness. Wyatt loved all the rides he rode and wasn't afraid of anything! I think he could have handled some of the roller coasters if he had been big enough. I'm not sure if the next time he goes he will be as brave! I hope so!

























One thing I miss is how fun it was to share a room with my boy. He slept in his pack'n play right next to us and in the morning he would climb up into bed with us and cuddle! Plus it is really fun to watch him sleep! I don't get to do that nearly enough anymore!



The plane ride home wasn't as pleasant as the ride there. For some reason Wyatt's ears wouldn't pop when we were descending into DFW and he screamed for a good 10 minutes while I held him trying to make it better. That was really hard on Mommy and certainly the worst part of the whole trip!!



I'm already missing Disneyland but I know we won't be able to go this year. We are planning a trip to San Antonio and Sea World in May and a trip to the Beach this summer. But next year we think we are going to take Grami and Papaw on their first trip to Disneyland!! That should be a blast!! (Although I'll miss my fellow Disneyland nut Marie and the rest of the Peterson's. Wyatt really enjoyed getting to hang out with his Pa-Pa and Mimi. He loves his Aunt Emma and Uncle Lukeus too. I'm pretty sure even Uncle Lukeus was warming up to him by the end of the trip!)

So that is pretty much it!! I can't wait to take Wyatt again!
