Getting sneaky!

Wyatt is growing by leaps and bounds. He amazes me everyday by what he has learned. He knows all the basic colors and can pick them out of a big bunch quickly. He can sort of count to 3 on his own. His vocabulary is getting so big I don't even recognize when he learns a new word anymore. But today I thought I'd share something that really cracks me up!!

He is getting so sneaky!!!!!!

Nap time and Bedtime have really become a hassle because he is starting to come up with plans on how to stall the inevitable. Most of the time it is just "Water!" hollered out a few moments after you've shut the door. That one I can deal with! And on a very fast side note today he called me back in there and handed me two water sippies and said "Two waters", which I thought was very astute of him. Usually he just says "More waters" when there are more than one of something.

Anyways, back on topic. Today he went to nap very easily and seemed to be resigned to the fact that he had to take a nap. I was completely suckered in. An hour went by and while I was cooking some cookies for an after nap treat I heard the sound of two toys clicking together. I knew then that he was out of bed. I walked towards his door and as the floor creeked under me I heard little bitty footfalls running in his room and then the bed creek and as I opened the door I just barely caught him smoothing out his bed covers and trying to act like he was never up.

It was all I could do not to bust out laughing. I remember doing stuff like that to my Mother so I know exactly what his little mind was thinking! Poor little guy still had to take a nap but Mommy was so amused that she told him he could have a cookie when he wakes up. He didn't get back up out of bed again but I'm pretty sure that wasn't the last time.

I had to take a picture of the toys that alerted me to his naughtiness. I'm not sure how he figured I wouldn't notice them under the door. I guess maybe he hasn't reached that developmental milestone yet. . . and heaven help me when he does!

A trip to the museum!

Just one more week until Daddy goes back to work so we are taking full advantage of our time with him!!!

We have been planning on going to the Omni with Wyatt for a long time and finally this past Monday we actually went!!

I thought I’d do a picture report of our day so all the people who couldn’t come could see!!

We started out and the first think Wyatt saw was a big ol’ Dinosaur!!!!!! Of course he thought that was really “Cool”.

We visited the Fort Worth Museum of Natural History and went to the Omni!! Wyatt thought this d

Next we bought our tickets and stood in line very patiently to see the first showing of Dolphins. Wyatt loved being loose and stayed with us the entire time.

Waiting very patiently to get to go into the Omni theater.

This is the best picture I could get without a tripod in the dark. Cameras weren’t really allowed in the theater. For those of you who have never been to the Omni it is a dome Imax that makes you feel like you are moving while you watch the film. It’s really neat!

Mommy and her non tripod, non flash attempts at pictures in the theater.

Best shot of the lower level and a tiny fraction of the screen.

The theater (or the bottom 1/15th of it.

Wyatt had his first drink from a water fountain after the movie and he thought it was “Cool” too.

I had to get a shot of the purple walls as we left the theater because they remind me of my Granddaddy. He always took me to the Omni when I was little and I always got so excited when I saw those purple walls!

Mommy had to get a shot of the purple walls because she loves them. They remind her of her Gran

The Star Wars Exhibit is a traveling exhibit, which is about to leave our town so we were lucky to get to see it!! It had a lot of neat stuff used in the movies and some of the science that has been inspired by them.

The museum is hosting a Star Wars exhibit which is REALLY cool!! Lots of props and science stuf

Cool

DSCN5812

Daddy pushed Wyatt way up close to this scary creature. (not sure why) and I was worried that he might be afraid of it but Wyatt just busted out with “SNOW PUPPY!!!” So cute I tell ya!

Wyatt called that ice creature a

Wyatt is already half the height of Harrison Ford!!

Wyatt is almost half the height of Harrison Ford evidently.

DSCN5827

We finished up the Star Wars exhibit and went to find something fun for Wyatt to do. The penny vortex has been at the museum since I was a little girl.

Watching the pennies also reminded me of Granddaddy. Wyatt liked it a lot.

We got to touch Mammoth tusks

Cool! Mammoth tusks!

And play with big bubble tubes!

Really big hands!!! And lots of bubbles!!!

And Daddy and Wyatt are making the same exact fake smile here in front of the dinosaur bones.

DSCN5837

The museum has a really great area in the basement that is for kids 1 – 6. It had trains to drive and cars at the atm, phones to call on, a grocery store and a neat water play area with a pretend boat. I could tell a lot of Moms had passes to the museum just so their kids could meet and play while Mom sat on a bench and chatted with other Moms. Nice!

The museum has a really great area for toddlers to get 'hands on' time with fun toys.

Wyatt checks out with a bunch of fruit!

Daddy helped steer a little bit because the buggy had a bum tire.

DSCN5844

Cool water room!!! Wyatt loved this area a lot!!

Wyatt kept handing everyone this “Star Fish”. I guess he is learning his shapes after all!

We also went to the National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame but decided that we would come back without Wyatt sometime.

On the way back to our car Wyatt spotted this “Daddy Turtle” that he just had to go check out. He gave it a hugged and then pointed to it so that we wouldn’t miss it.

DSCN5856

I was really glad we got to go the museum because it is shutting down September 3rd for a long overdue overhaul and who knows what it will look like when it reopens. Bets are it won’t be anything like what I know and remember from my childhood. I missed my Granddaddy a lot during our trip but I’m glad I got to go see it one more time!

We've got pumpkins!

I’m a fall nut. A Really big fall nut!! Like I start dreaming of fall decorations in springtime. And today my land has made my year!! Greg insisted we had a pumpkin patch growing in our woods and I kept telling him he was wrong that it was just wild gourds. . . well he took pictures and proved me wrong!!!

WE HAVE A PUMPKIN PATCH!!!!!!

I wracked my brain as to where they could have come from and remembered that last year I threw out our old pumpkin into the woods!! YAY!!!

I haven’t been this excited about anything in a long time!! I’m such a dork!! Anyways, I just sent Greg out to cut one of the pumpkins for us to look at and I took some pictures of my boys with it! Wyatt is so excited. He doesn't even know why we are excited but he keeps running around going "Pumpkins!".

Here are some pics of our pumpkins and my boys!

We have PUMPKINS!!!!!!!!

Beautiful!! These guys grew from a pumpkin we threw out last year and I am so stinking excited!

I've got big plans for my pumpkins!!!

giving the pumpkins some love!

YAY!!!!

Two Years Down, A Lifetime To Go.

My goodness time flies! I can't believe my baby's second birthday is in two days. It seems like just yesterday that I was floating in the pool trying to stay cool while being as big as a house. I remember thinking that life would never be the same again and I was right. Wyatt has certainly changed everything around! Everything seems more colorful because of him. Sad things are sadder, Happy things are Happier. I know that doesn't make sense but I can't quite figure out how to put it into words.

Today I thought I'd post some comparison pictures of my baby when he was just born and then some of him recently. It's amazing to me the difference. And even though it seems like a life time has passed really it hasn't been that long at all.

Just born. . .

At one. . .

Almost two. . .

Happy Birthday my baby!!

Fourth of July

Well another birthday has come and gone and I just don't know where the time has gone. I'm 28 years old and although I don't feel younger I certainly don't feel this old either. I'm going to be 30 soon and I suddenly realize how young that actually is.

My birthday was very low key this year and I must say I spent most of it forgetting it was my birthday. Mommy brain. Sometimes I feel like Dory from Finding Nemo. Except I'm not blue and I certainly can't speak whale. Wyatt loved my birthday because his friend Colin came over with his Mommy and Daddy and they got to play together at Grami's house. Wyatt grabbed Colin's hand and led him into his room to show him all the fun toys he had there. It was very cute. And I enjoyed getting to hangout with my friend Sherri, although I get to hang out with her every weekend usually. But I wouldn't mind hanging out with her daily so what do you do?

It's been quiet here on the home front for the last month or so. Greg put together Wyatt's big boy bed and Wyatt made the switch to it without any fuss. He goes to bed when he is supposed to, never gets out of it unless a parent says he can and sleeps thru the night and nap time without a problem. I must say that the bed switch went much easier than I had imagined! It was like Wyatt had been ready for it for months. I really thought he would get out of it every night after we put him to bed and play for a while before going to sleep by the door or somewhere else on the floor. Boy was I wrong! In the morning when he wakes up he sits up and stays under the covers and says "Momma" until I come in there. Then he waits for me to pick him up before he gets up. I'm pretty sure Greg and I lucked out with Wyatt. I don't think babies are supposed to be this easy. That just means any future children will be total terrors I'm sure.

Texas has been one rainy state for the last few weeks. The road that leads to our nearest town has flooded and closed twice now and it's been 10 or so years since the last time it did that. In fact tonight we were supposed to go to a big July 4th event in a nearby town but didn't dare get out because of how heavy the rain was. Naturally everything dried up about 30 minutes before the fireworks display was scheduled but we live 40 minutes from the show so there was no way we could have made it. I guess we could try again tomorrow night but there is a 70% chance of heavy rain tomorrow as well. I must say I'm so happy about the rain. I know it's probably okay if it stopped now but being a horse owner and having to buy hay makes me very thankful for every drop of water that falls on the local hay fields. We just found hay for $45 instead of $110, which is what we have been paying for the last year and a half! In fact I hard some hay people talking the other day and they are saying they might get a fourth cut this year which means hay prices will stay low even over the winter! Or at least we can hope!

Well I'm off to sleep. Thanks for reading my ramblings!

San Antonio!!!!!

We had a blast on our summer vacation!! I thought I'd do another little trip report of our adventure for prosperities sake!! So here goes!

We took off to Grami's house early on Wednesday the 13th of June. Our plane was set to leave at 3:50. Wyatt was excited about going on a "pwane". Grami had super shuttle pick us up at her and Papaw's exciting!!!! trip to the airport, we got on our way!

Wyatt and Daddy fell asleep almost as soon as we were in the air. (Papaw too). Something about flying must make boys sleepy.

Mom's boys sleeping.

When we arrived in San Antonio we set out for our reserved hotel but after a quick glance at it, Papaw said "No Way" and Grami called the Hyatt Regency Hill Country Resort and booked us two rooms!! All I can say about this place is WOW!

After a lovely meal in the hotel restaurant we got a good nights sleep. The next morning we all got sunscreened up, ate another good meal at the hotel restaurant and then headed to Sea World!!

Hanging out at Sea World!

We actually arrived a bit early so we couldn't go into the main part of park. We decided to check out the Clydesdales and then head to the dolphins! Luckily the dolphin feeding time was 9:30 and we got to feed the dolphins!!!! Wyatt thought that was great!

Dolphins are so cute!

Then we headed towards Shamu stadium with a brief stop for Momma and Daddy to ride the near ride "Journey to Atlantis".

The best part of Sea World is definately the Shamu Believe show. Wyatt just loved it!! Check out his (and Grami and Daddy's) face the first time he saw a whale!! Gives you cold chills to watch!
Finally saw a whale!

So pretty!

We sat in the splash zone and boy did we get splashed! Wyatt just laughed and laughed after the whale got us! It was cold and salty but it sure felt nice!

Next we headed over to a place for lunch. It was typical park food, nothing to write home about. Since it was nap time we decided to head to the penguin exhibit because our friends said it was a great place to get cool and nap! Boy were they right! Wyatt looked at the penguins with Grami and Papaw while Mommy and Daddy got to ride the Steel Eel. It was a fun roller coaster but I've decided roller coasters are for young people! My muscles were so sore from being tense during this ride!

This is a rare picture of just Greg and I waiting in the non- existant line.
Mom and Dad about to ride the Steel Eel.

And when we got back to the penguins this is what we found!! One sleepy boy!! He was crashed out on Grami's lap!!
Great place for a nap! (Thanks Dee!)

I even got some loving when he finally woke up! Gotta get cuddles whenever and wherever you can!
RSCN4696

It was so hot that we decided there was just nothing else we really wanted to do at Sea World so we headed back to our hotel to float in the lazy river and play in the kiddie pool. And guess what!! They had an adult pool with waitresses that would come to you while you sat in the water! Heaven!

Wyatt watched a movie with Daddy up in the room while Grami and Mom hung out in the pool. Dinner time came and we went upstairs to get the boys.

This is a shot of Grami's room. Nice!

DSCN4714

After dinner we went on a horse drawn carriage ride across the golf course! It was a beautiful evening and we really enjoyed it!

He gave us a ride around the golf course.

This is Chip, the percheron draft horse that pulled us.

DSCN4732

Next morning, another breakfast. Wyatt really enjoyed the fruit. In fact I think that is basically all he ate the entire week.

DSCN4738

Back to Sea World! This time we left Papaw at the resort so he could soak in the sun. We hung out with the dolphins again.
More dolphin fun!

It was so crowded on Friday that we decided to just check out the Shamu show and the Viva show then go back to the hotel to swim. Dad and Wyatt got put up on the big screen at the Shamu stadium because of Dad being a veteran. We are proud of him too!

Daddy got to stand up when they called for service men and women to be honored and he made it up

My boy looks so small in Daddy's arms. He enjoyed the show again although this time we didn't get wet.
DSCN4784

Back at the hotel the boy was ready to crash so he spent some time with Grami while Mom and Dad hung out in the adult pool!

DSCN4800

Later that evening Happy Feet was being shown out on the lawn! Grami and Momma look like they are ready for a rock concert!
Waiting for Happy Feet to start out on the lawn!

The boys are really cute watching the big screen! Wyatt thought the grass was cool and enjoyed picking blades of it and throwing them onto the blanket we were sitting on.

DSCN4811

The next day we played around the resort. We had originally planned on going into Downtown to see the Alamo but see as how the Spurs had just won the NBA championship we decided to stay away from that crazy place!

Dad and Wyatt took the time to catch up on a little coloring!
DSCN4818

Wyatt made friends out in the kiddie pool. He got so confident in this thing that he didn't want anyone hanging onto him. It was really nice because he felt like a big boy 'swimming' all by himself!

DSCN4859

A little lunch by the pool followed by a snow cone is my idea of perfect!

Eating a snow cone!

Mommy had to get a shot of Wyatt with his loot. You can certainly tell where we visited!!

Wyatt's loot!

I took a ton of resort photos but I decided not to bore you with all of them. But here is a shot of one of my favorite features! The lazy river!! At night it is just like floating in the bayou on Pirates of the Caribean at Disneyland

DSCN4898

All good things must come to an end and Sunday came way too fast! We said adieu to our perfect vacation spot and had to head home! But we'll be back!!
